Breeding at
Sterita Park Angus

At Sterita Park Angus, our breeding philosophy is centered around a commitment to excellence, sustainability, and the well-being of our cattle.

We believe in combining time-honored traditions with modern innovations to produce Angus cattle that are not only superior in quality but also raised in a humane and environmentally responsible manner.

Cow Breeding

Our reputation is underpinned by the consistent performance of our females under commercial conditions.

Being an autumn calving herd, we believe positive fats are critical for maintaining adequate body condition through peak lactation, which we will believe will enable a shorter return to oestrus and higher conception rates.

Bull Breeding

We produce bulls that consistently perform under commercial conditions in all performance traits without any grain or pellet supplements.

The sires we select are chosen for:

  • Source herd integrity
  • Highly accurate proven data
  • Leading performance figures with balance
  • Carcass integrity with genuine muscle
  • Maternal legacy
  • Commercial Performance
  • Phenotype
  • Temperament
  • Doing Ability
  • Soundness

The bulls we sell are independently structurally assessed, semen tested and vaccinated for Pesti, Vibrio and 7 in 1.

Sterita Park
Breeding

The key to commercial success is balancing fertility and performance traits in order to sustainably maximise production and long term performance.

Our reputation is underpinned by the consistent performance of our females under commercial conditions

Our focused breeding strategy ensures swift, healthy development, producing robust cattle with exceptional genetics. This growth reflects our dedication to excellence in the Angus breed.

Our herd is assessed annually by accredited structural assessors Ian Moreland and Chris Saunders

We focus on a balanced carcass that performs on grass and excels in meeting grid specifications.

The Sires Of
Sterita Park

Woodhill Comstock

having a lot of Broken Bow progeny here that have done exceptionally well, it was obvious to use Comstock as his replacement. His progeny scan exceptionally well with thickness and a lot of muscle expression.

Soprano S47

Sterita Park Soprano S47 was sold to Goolagong Angus in 2023. He is a TeMania Pheasantry son with faultless data across the board. His progeny are extremely sound and docile with balanced thickness.

Sterling Pacific

Sterling Pacific has big birth to growth spread complemented with very good carcass data and top 1% docility. His progeny are extremely sound and one of the better sire groups overall.

Square B True North

Square B True North has worked really well here at Sterita Park. Progeny are soft, easy doing cattle with plenty of thickness. He is proving to be a moderate fit for our L519 and Sydgen Enhance daughters. His data makes him very easy to use.

New Ground N90

New Ground N90 has been used for his birth to growth spread, massive scrotal of +6.6 which is a highly heritable trait with significant impact on puberty in heifers. Also boasting excellent carcass data.

Karoo Realist N278

Realist N278 has a real balanced number set and as we didn’t use a great deal of Matauri Reality early, this was a great opportunity to inject his genetics into our herd. Having now seen his progeny, we’ve found them to be one of the most consistent sire groups.

Te Mania Pheasantry P1479

We purchased Pheasantry with Milwillah, Landfall, Murdeduke and Mt Schank in 2020 for his impressive carcass qualities. He demonstrates Labrador temperament and is structurally very sound. A high marbling bull with plenty of muscle expression.

Rennylea Prospect P550

We purchased Prospect with Murdeduke in 2020 for his soundness, phenotype and extreme positive fats which are hard to find. Positive fats are one of the most important traits at Sterita Park.
